Titanium (Ti) is a naturally occurring transitional element and is listed on the periodic table (atomic number 22). Although present abundantly on earth, titanium is never found uncombined and occurs as an oxide in ilmenite, rutile and sphene. Titanium melts at 1660C (3020F) and boils at 3287C (5949F). When used in aircrafts, spaceships, or jewelry, titanium is generally alloyed with other elements. Generating titanium from titanium ore is a very complicated process that only became commercially available about 50 years ago.

Titanium is quickly becoming a popular material with which to craft a wedding ring. Beautiful, strong, and virtually impossible to scratch or dent are traits that make titanium wedding rings the symbolic piece of jewelry that will truly last forever. For those women who like to see their husband wear their wedding ring, the titanium wedding ring is the perfect option that will remain lustrous and beautiful no matter what he does to it.

The Titanium Wedding Ring

The use of titanium to make jewelry is a recent development in the fashion business, however, when you consider the properties of the metal this practice begins to show its appeal. Titanium, which is primarily used in aircrafts and spaceships, possesses an innate strength comparable to steel, yet remains almost 50% lighter. Along with its superior strength, titanium is virtually un-scratchable yielding some of the toughest and most durable jewelry. The metal is inert, so it will not react with salt water, sunlight, body chemistry, and it will never rust. It is 100% hypoallergenic which means it will not irritate your skin even if you have other metal allergies. Titanium will never turn your skin black or green as is common with other metals.

Titanium can also be changed a variety of colors such as blue, pink, turquoise or green by using electricity. Changing the color of titanium does not affect any of its other properties, and so titanium jewelry remains durable as well as diversely beautiful. Titanium can also be inlaid with gems and precious stones adding yet another appealing aspect. Titanium jewelry is quickly becoming a very convenient and fashionable practice with many options such as rings, bracelets, and even a titanium wedding ring
