Quartz stones are most commonly found in the mining regions of Western Australia, India, South Africa, and California.

Quartz, though usually clear in composure, may also occur in a variety of colors, ranging from a light, transparent rose to smoky brown. An even more rare (and very desirable) variation of Quartz is the “Tiger’s Eye” Quartz, in which brown iron reacts with the mineral to create the design of a feline’s eye emerging from the brownish-yellow background of this dark Quartz stone.

Quartz is made of a combination of rock crystal and onyx, and has all of the clarity and shimmering qualities of a frozen icicle.

Quartz, otherwise known as “rock crystal”, is one of nature’s most popular gems. Used in ancient times in the making of crystal balls and bowls, quartz has also been popular throughout history in Art Deco jewelry carvings and designs. Long ago, it was believed that quartz stone was a compact form of ice, because clear quartz looks just like dried ice might. Quartz jewelry has been thought for centuries to be a powerful curing charm—said to benefit its wearer with good health and give a cleansing renewed sense of spiritual energy.
